Healfdene Greymaneson

Healfdene was born in the small town of Abertridwr to parents of mixed heritage who married when a close Danish settlement and the British one (Trinovantes Celts) had joined forces to repel their Saxon and British neighbour's attacks.

Growing up with both his father's and mother's people he gained a great appreciation of both cultures. He travelled for many years seeking the answer to where the sun goes at night.

Finally he returned to his homeland when he found the answer. He is trying to live a peaceful life, but with the Saxon King Offa stirring up trouble on the boarder lands, he has his sword near at hand.

David de Saxby

David de Saxby is a gentleman of the court of His Grace Richard, Duke of Gloucester, later King Richard III of England, in the period 1472 - 1485.

On a mission abroad in August 1485, he missed the Battle of Bosworth, where Richard fell through base treachery, and its bloody aftermath (the reign of Henry Tudor, styled Henry VII).

Judging England (correctly) to be no healthy place for a supporter of the last of the Plantagenet kings, and lacking the stomach to make peace with (meaning "bend the knee to") the new King, he has since made the Duchy of Burgundy, whose Duchess is the late King's sister, his home.

Occasionally, his descendant, also David de Saxby, a resident of Elizabethan London in the middle-to-late 1500s, attends Society events in his stead.

Liduina de Kasteelen van Valkenburg

Liduina de Kasteelen van Valkenburg was born in Den Haag (The Hague), in Nederland (Holland), in the year of our Lord 1251. Her father was a Knight in the service of Dirk II, Lord of Valkenburg.

At the age of five, she went to live in the Castle of Valkenburg with her parents and there lived quite happily for the next nine years.

At the age of fourteen years, she became Maid-in-Waiting to Lady Beatrix, daughter of Dirk II. They travelled much over the southern areas of Holland and into Germany and Flanders but spent most of their time in Aix-la- Chapelle. It was here that Lady Beatrix met Richard of Cornwall, brother of Henry III of England. He was a Crusader, as was Liduina's father.  Beatrix and Richard were married in Kaiserslautern on  the 16th of June, 1269, in the presence of a great number of Bishops, Sovereigns, and Nobles.

By this time (She was the ripe old age of eighteen years), Liduina had become a full-fledged Lady-in-Waiting and, too, her father had arranged her marriage to a brother-knight. They returned to Valkenburg and took up residence in the Castle. Her husband was much from home, fighting in the Crusades in the Holy Lands, until he was severely wounded (her father was killed in the same battle) and sent home to recover. She spent many months nursing her lord back to health.

Shortly thereafter the "Bokkenrijders" (Bandit-knights) began raiding the surrounding countryside. The situation became so bad that many of the populace came into the village to live but eventually this was no safeguard as the Banditknights robbed and plundered where they would. Yet the Castle itself remained untouched

Liduina discovered that her husband was the leader of the raiders and so, to save herself and her two children, she fled to England, with several her retainers and there took refuge within the court of Henry III, once more as Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Beatrix.

Bethra dela Sentiero

Lady Bethra is a renowned 16th Century Italian Courtesan, fond of the boons to be found in such illustrious company as graces our courts & coronets, and more than passing fond of her work. She enjoys the gentler arts of heavy fighting and seduction-without- collateral-damage, with a royal licence to wench. She is available for consultancy on this subject.

For those outside Lochac, Lady Bethra spent some time wayfaring our fair lands and ladies, during which time she received both her names. Her court name means "Path Finder" and her travelling nick is blazoned above. In addition to HawksTower, she is also proud to be apprenticed -when in residence- to Mistress Madelaine de Bourgogne of Solar (Barony of Ynys Fawr) and to call Blue Feather her Festival household.

Andre de Montsegur

Andre is an Austrian who went off on crusade to France (of all places) with this maniac called Simon de Montfort.  "Crusades are great for getting oneself out of debt", he said.  Montfort was incredibly brave but experience soon proved him a little too brutal to follow for very long.

After the debacle at Beziers, Andre spent a spell wandering the forest beset by strange visions. After a convalesence at a strange monastary he became a mercenary protector for these nice folk called the "Cathars".

Genevieve du Mont Fleur

The "short"...  tale of Genevieve du Mont Fleur:

A woman who knows my cousins sisters seamstress mother said that her husbands brothers uncles nephew said that Genevieve is a French lady of somewhat strange origins and first visited the Western Shores of Lochac when Viscounty courts were the order of the day and Aneala was but a fledgling Shire.

... Genevieve traveled extensively with her father as he searched for the answer to many mysteries... Tragically separated during a storm at sea the youthful Genevieve found herself in Aneala and developed a friendship with a local fighter, ... acquitted himself quite well ... as did the far sweeter and fair Genevieve.

...Genevieve ....parted company with Aneala Shire ....

Eventually after many adventures which make Sinbad’s little jaunt look like a coracle trip on a duck pond, .... Imagine Genevieve’s surprise to find Aneala .... was now a bustling and busy Barony, a far cry from the simple and peaceful lands she had come to love as a young girl.

Genevieve has since established a moderate holding in the unexplored regions to the South, lands claimed by the Canton of Abertridwr, Genevieve is often accompanied by two pages, many believe these pages to be her children and they are named Isabella de Leon and Orlando of Verona.

Outside of trading and furthering her education Genevieve’s main interests could best be described as creating wonderful and culturally diverse costumes, brewing, dancing, sharing good company and striving to provide environments with an ambience and atmosphere which hopefully encourages all people to have medieval fun in a spirit of courtesy and friendship.

Just ask her for the "Long" tale...
