The Pencampr is to be a weekend event containing at least the Pencampr list and a victory feast. For details of the 2008 event go to this page .

Prerequisites

There are certain prerequisites to entering the Pencampr Tourney.
i) One must be willing to take on all of the duties of the Pencampwr. See below:

Duties

All entrants will be asked to affirm their willingness to carry out
the 'duties' of the Pencampwr at the beginning of the tourney. They will:

i) Attend Abertridwr events as they are able,
ii) Protect the hall at Abertridwr events,
iii) Challenge other champions for the glory of Abertridwr,
iv) Run the next Pencamwr tourney (Not the weekend event),
v) Protect the people of Abertridwr.

NOTE: The Pencampr may enter the list to defend his tittle if he/she so desires.

The Tourney

Touney will be run as a best of three round robin.
The final shall be determined by the two (or more) finalists, after consultation with the previous year's Pencampwr and within reason.

The tourney is to be fought with displayed wounds and mimed deaths.

The Final
The format of the fiinal is determined by the finalists and the
previous year's Pencampwr.

At present, the final is to be a best of 5 rounds, with each successive round to be fought in the following styles:
i) 1 handed weapon & shield,

iii) 2 Handed Sword,
iv) 2 Handed Spear, and
v) Open weapon.

Regalia

i) The Pencampr may display fieldless a Cadwaladr Dragon in "Sinister, Gules, Gored, of a Collar Azure" in any medium. Some suggestions but not limited to broach, cloak clasp, sleeve, baldric, shield, or hat pin. This is personal regalia and may or may not be gifted to their successor as they decide.

ii) A spear of office is to be commissioned. An attempt to get a spear pole from Abertridwr in Wales will be made!

iii) When a Pencampr has been chosen, a "Loyalty Banner" with "Argent, a Cadwalader Dragon, Passont to Sinister, Gules, Gored of a Collar Azure" shall fly on the list field.

iv) The Pencampwr, on successfully completing his or her year in office, may place their loyalty standard (bearing the Anno Societatis year of winning) on one of the 7 empty banner poles on the list field, until all 7 have an ex-Pencampr’s banner flying. Should a noble win a second or 3rd Pencampr, that year will also be embrodered or painted on their loyalty banner standard. Should a 8th noble win a Pencampr then the oldest will be removed.

NOTE: Generic loyalty banners will be displayed until 7 ex Pencampr banners are up

Removal from office
The Pencampr may be removed from office for just cause by the Seneschal.

THE AROBRYN

Based on a Viking head from the Oseberg wagon
.

The Arobryn is the Cultural Champion - someone who excells across a broad range of Arts & Sciences over an entire year.

"Arobryn" is Welsh for "worthy".  The details of the Arobryn Championship were explored in several meetings and finally settled on in a meeting on December 5th, 2004.

Arobryn A&S Entry Forms

1) The Arobryn will be scored according to the following model:

The Arobryn shall be a year long competition and

It was decided that we would use the system of A&S entries as used by the Kingdom of Lochac. Each entry would be judged on its own merits by normal A&S criteria. If an entrant is also a judge, they will be  precluded from judging their own entry.

The Competition shall be run on the weekend of the Pencampwr Camping Weekend.

2) Competition Categories

The entrant's top scoring entries from three different categories will be added together to establish their total score for the Arobryn Competition.

There will be no pre-determined or exclusive categories such as we've had in the past (where just five categories such as Leatherworking, Metalworking, Cooking, Jewelry and Brewing might have been the only divisions under which one could enter the Arobryn).

We are more concerned with the demonstration of different skills and techniques.

So, its up to the entrant to establish which category they are entering. If they enter three items in the same category which they feel should all contribute to their score - for example:

Say entrant A makes a leather half gauntlet, a leather pouch and a leather pair of shoes. Under the old conditions, these would have been classified as the same category (Leatherwork).

In this case the Entrant must include in their documentation a statement descibing how each of their items require different techniques to make them so there are classified as three separate entries and three separate scores.

If you have any queries about the category the A&S minister will make the final decision.

NOTE: You may enter a part of an item for judging. So a shirt with embriodery may be entered at two different events. The first time the participant chooses to enter it as a piece of costuming, the second as a piece of embriodery. The shirt does not count toward the embriodery entry and the embriodery does not count towards the costuming entry. This allows projects that two people have worked on to be entered to the benefit of both.

3) Competitions throughout the year:

People have expressed a desire to have event specific A&S competitions as this allows us to praise peoples work.

So with that in mind, if there are at least three A&S ENTRIES there will be a tassle/prise given.

The entrants may decide to enter their piece in the event A&S competition or at the Arobryn Competition at Pencampwr or both.

4) The Rights and Responsibilities of the Arobryn:

The duties of the Arobryn are to:

     A) Create an A&S piece of lasting cultural importance for the group.
     B) Create a token to be given to the person who succeeds them.

The privilidges of the Arobryn are:

     A) The Arobryn can change ONE category for the next years competition (except the "open" category). So if Lord or Lady 'X' wins she will be notified by the A&S minister after the last Calendar event before the October Feast so that (s)he can say at the October Feast "I am changing the category of Brewing to Cooking". [Of course, in this case, you could still enter your beverage in competition, but for the next year it can only be done so under the Open Category].
     B) Provided it concord with their Excellencies wishes, to sit on the High table at the Feast in October to celebrate the Arobryn's achievements.

5) The Regalia of Office

The Arobryn shall have a perpetual token of their achievements which shall be made by the previous recipient of the Arobryn gan Abertridwr. It shall be in the form of a Cadwaladr Dragon (like the tourney banners) in any medium. King Cadwaladr was the Welsh king traditionally called the "last king of Britain".

Mistress Evelynne van der Haagan has kindly offered to produce the first token! Huzzah!

Also there is to be a baldric that the Arobryn may wear. The creation of this Baldic will be given to the reglaia council so that interested parties may submit ideas and bid upon its creation.

Other items of note:

The Arts and Sciences Minister shall maintain a record of all entries into the Arobryn.

both English and Viking elements.
