Lochac A&S Procedures

A&S Officer - Group Requirements

A Barony must have six (6) Officers (warrant/roster), one of whom is A&S Officer.  The required officers of a Barony are:

• Seneschal
  
  
• Reeve
  
  
• Marshal
  
  
• Arts & Sciences
  
  
• Herald
  
  
• Constable

A Shire must have three (3) Officers.  These are:

• Seneschal
  
  
• Reeve
  
  
• Herald, or Arts & Sciences, or Marshal
  
  

A Canton or College is not required to have an A&S Officer.

Term of Office

The office is for a term of two (2) years from the date of appointment and may be extended for an additional year.  It is advisable to find a replacement at about 18 months into the office.  If there is difficulty in finding a replacement, please contact the KMoAS.

Procedure for A&S Changeover

The following is the Lochac procedure for an officer changeover:

• Advertise the position (i.e. at meetings, in local newsletters, group website or on the group's email list).  Ideally, the position will be advertised for a period of two (2) months prior to the changeover
  
  
• Applications for the position should be sent to the KMoAS and to your local Seneschal and / or Baron & Baroness.  The KMoAS will discuss the recommendations with the Seneschal, Baron / Baroness and current A&S Officer
  
  
• Once the Position is confirmed, advertise the new A&S Officer (as above), in the following format:

The Kingdom A&S Minister is pleased to appoint (X) to the office of A&S Officer of (Y).  Any objections to this appointment should be raised in writing to the Kingdom A&S Minister at artsandsciences@sca.org.au or to the postal address to be found in Pegasus, no later than one week before (date)


• The new officer must send the following details to the KMoAS:

  • current SCA membership number & expiry
    
    
• The new officer must also send in a warrant.  A blank Warrant Form can be found here.  The warrant must be signed by the new A&S Officer and the Seneschal or Baron/ Baroness and returned to the KMoAS (ideally within 2 weeks of the appointment).  Please keep a copy for your records.  The KMoAS will advise when the warrant is received and (ideally) will return a copy to the new A&S Officer within 2 weeks of receipt.
