Newcomer's Guide ~ Officers ~ Articles ~ Pictures ~ Feasts ~ Heavy Fighting ~ Rapier ~ Archery ~ Talks
The best way to get involved is to attend an event. All newcomers are welcome, and will generally be "shown the ropes" by older members. If you have any questions, then feel free to email any of the officers - remember the Hospitaller is there specifically to help newcomers figure out what's going on - or you could just contact me the (web minister) and I will get you in touch with people. Newcomer's Feast is usually a good place to start - it occurs at the beginning of the academic year. Or you could turn up to any of our weekly practices (which are held out of "garb" or medieval clothes).
There are only two criteria for turning up to an SCA event, and that is that you make an attempt at dressing in pre 1600s clothing (unless it's an out of garb event); and that you behave in a polite manner, befitting of one of noble birth - which just means that you should observe basic manners. There are a number of customs which we adhere to in order to create a medieval feel which can seem odd at first, but no one will mind if you don't know what they are and fail to adhere to them at your first event!
