Greetings My Lords and Ladies and welcome to Castellum Montanum.
The Society
for Creative Anachronism (or SCA for short) is a not-for-profit educational
organization devoted to studying and re-creating the Middle Ages
and Renaissance. The primary focus is on Western European culture,
but can also include
other regions such as the Middle East and Japan with which Western Europe
had contact during pre-17th century. The SCA is easily described as a Middle
Ages Arts Revival (Wikipedia).
Castellum Montanum is the Toowoomba branch of the Society for Creative
Anachronism (SCA). It is a Canton of the Barony of River Haven
(Brisbane), in the Kingdom of Lochac (Australia and New Zealand). People in the SCA enjoy many different activities - For example; Feasting, Fighting (Heavy combat - in metal armour, Rapier, Combat and Target Archery and Jousting etc), Gardening, Dancing, Singing, Cooking, Sewing, Heraldry and many other fun activities! Each fortnight, at the Arts and Science meeting, we look at different topics, from Viking clothing, to how to make medieval cough lollies! |

To all New Gentles
To all new gentles here are some basic rules of the SCA
1. Make an attempt at pre-1600's costume
2. Treat all those you encounter with courtesy and chivalry
3. We always leave the area cleaner than how we found it
4. The Crown's word is law (and you would be wise to follow the autocrat's wishes as well).
This is the official site for Castellum Montanum (Canton of River Haven). This is not a corporate publication of the Society for Creative Anachronism and does not set out to delienate it's policies.
