What is Cockatrice?
Cockatrice is the Lochac Arts and Sciences Magazine. If it is Arts or Sciences, you’ll find it within our pages. Articles range from introductory how-tos to detailed descriptions of different parts of medieval life. Contributors range from leaders in their field (those very knowledgeable about aspects of life in period) through to those publishing their first article of amateur research on medieval life. Submissions are evaluated by the editorial team before being accepted for publication, which we believe helps us maintain quality standards.
Cockatrice is produced quarterly, in conjunction with four Lochac events:
- January – 12th Night Coronation
- April – Rowany Festival when it is on in April, the second week of April otherwise.
- July – Midwinter Coronation
- October – Spring War.
Where possible current issues and back issues are available at these events, and the remaining subscriptions will be posted with two weeks of the event.
