Roles and Responsibilities

SCAA Ltd is operated by your fellow members for the benefit of the broader membership. As such it provides an umbrella legal framework, with a number of roles commonly found in corporate bodies -- Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and so forth. It also includes regional representatives from the membership and provides support for operational aspects to support that membership, such as a group Registrar and Stock Clerk.

The SCAA Ltd has affiliation agreements with the US-based SCA Inc. as well as SCA New Zealand Inc..

Nominations for Positions in the SCAA Ltd

Any new nominations for the Committee are gladly received. Members are free to nominate themselves. Nominations need to be in writing and signed. Nominations are kept for up to two years from the date they are received.
Send nominations to the SCAA Ltd Secretary.

Comments on nominees are greatly appreciated by the Committee. Should anyone have any objections to any nominations currently listed, you can contact the Chair; all such correspondence would be kept completely confidential.


Corporate Treasurer

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to the SCA
  • Adult Member of the SCA Australia Ltd
  • Accounting or book-keeping skills


Stock Clerk

This is an SCA Australia Corporate Office position reporting to SCA Australia Ltd and the SCAA Treasurer.

Role of Stock Clerk:

Provide SCA publications to members.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a monthly financial statement to the SCAA Treasurer (currently in Excel).
  • Access to a Commonwealth bank branch/agent to put money/cheques/credit card payments into the SCA Stock Clerk account.
  • Attend SCAA meetings via the computer or in person if possible.
  • Order and pay for stock from SCA US Inc. and any other sources. Sell books.
  • Organise for a stock clerk order form to be in Pegasus once per quarter.
  • While not a requirement, it is very good if you can sell books at Rowany Festival, as that is where a large percentage of sales are made. Other kingdom events a plus.

Requirements:

  • Excel for financial statements and email for committee email.
  • There are enough files to fill a drawer of a filing cabinet. A full height bookcase for the books.

Desirable:

  • Ability to finish setting up the SCAA Stock Clerk online store (located on the SCA server) and run the online store.


Committee Members

Responsibilities

  • Be a member of the governing body of the SCA Australia Ltd
  • Act as state representative on the Board of Directors representing state SCA interests
  • Attend Board meetings (usually by computer conference on the first Thursday evening of the month)
  • Where possible attend the AGM held at Rowany Festival each year.
  • Be prepared to take on the role of Chair, Treasurer or Secretary
  • Take responsibility for projects and research as required by the board.

Term of office

Three (3) years with an advisory term of 3 months following stepping down from the Board

Removal from office

A board member can be removed from office:

  • After 3 consecutive missed meetings without apology.
  • If they are not a financial member of SCAA Ltd
  • For any activity that would cause banishment from the Society
  • For any conduct considered unbecoming of a Board member of SCA Australia Ltd.

Criteria

Essential

  • A committment to the SCA, usually of peerage or Landed Nobility level (note: this is not identical to being a current Landed Noble or peer)
  • Adult Member of the SCA Australia Ltd
  • Well-developed negotiation and communication skills

Desirable

  • Management qualifications or experience (either within the SCA or without)
