Explanation of the heraldic ranking system in Lochac. There are three levels of personal heraldic rank in Lochac; Macer, Pursuivant and Herald. The rank of Pursuivant is given to those who have shown basic knowledge and competence in heraldry, while the rank of Herald is given to those of greater expertise. Macer is used to describe those who have not yet qualified for either personal ranking (it replaces the old term "Cornet" which should be avoided). Macers are not generally regarded as members of the College and are thus not listed on this roster unless they hold an office. Movement between the various ranks is at the discretion of the Crux Australis Principal Herald. Heralds who currently hold an office (the so called "in-ordinary" heralds) take a title that depends on their position. Baronial heralds and heralds on Crux's staff may style themselves as "X Herald" for the duration of their office, where X is the appropriate heraldic title. Group heralds for other groups (Shires, Cantons and Colleges) should describe themselves as "Group-name Pursuivant" for the duration of their warrant. All other Pursuivants and Heralds are listed as "extraordinary" (literally "out of ordinary", meaning holding no official post).

Why am I not on the roster?
There are several reasons that you might not appear on the roster. If you have previously been on the roster, then the likely reason for your absence is that you have yet confirmed your details. Crux is currently rerostering the entire College, so if you have not contacted him recently indicated your willingness to remain listed, then you need to do so by entering your data at this website.

If you have not previously been rostered, then you you should contact Crux for details on the appropriate procedure.

Why is my name highlighted in yellow?
People whose entry is highlighted in yellow have not yet confirmed their details in the great roster update project, but Crux has decided to leave them on the roster for the moment. Such people will be removed from the roster shortly, so you are encouraged to indicate your desire to remain by entering your information at this website.

But you have missed person X. Shall I just enter their data?
No! Crux wants to hear from everyone individually. Those who cannot update their details on the provided update page for technological reasons may contact Crux Australis some other way.
