Officers' Reports

A&S

Asfridr has offered to run a basic shoemaking workshop – will propose January to her to see if convenient.

Library displays: will see how January goes, then reassess.

Marshall

New training site (NW carpark) is good, attendance ok. Potential 2 new fighters next week (and it's Gwynfor's birthday)

Reeve

Report given in absentia as reeve had too much wine with dinner to drive.

Tithe has been paid for 07/08.

Has not handed office to Cathy as Cathy currently snowed under at work.

Constable

Fairly sure no-one has died recently

Web

Closing yahoo email list on 10 th December. Googlegroups working well. It is possible to have multiple owners (currently Paul and Lillian) but will make it all officers.

Seneschal

At MMFAT were approached by the State library about participating in their fayre day – do we want to be involved in this? Seneschal will contact them and see what they are suggesting.

Have had two queries from library display. Will see what conversion rate is from enquiries.

Event Reports

MMFAT demo

Interaction was good

People though SCA fighting looked fun

Suggestion: guest book for people to leave their contact details

Suggestion: better handouts. Given that we had enquiries from Bacchus Marsh, Sunbury, Bendigo , Lilydale etc, this should probably be coordinated with all local groups. It would be good to have different levels of information (local, greater Melbourne, SCA general). Possibly business cards? Could we share cost with other groups?

Suggestion: make sure we return the assistance by helping with demos in other areas.

Problem: contact given for SCA in the MMFAT booklet was wrong. Peter will contact the person who was put as SCA contact apologizing (although not our fault), and ask him to kindly forward on any enquiries.

November STTS

40 attendees, $139 profit.

7 in tourney, 10 entertainers, 9 cooks, 11 object entries.

Have rejigged competition scoring slightly

Other Business

Michele looking for people interested in helping with a Tudor chemise as a gift for incoming Queen (Bethan).

Query about an online ‘space' for musicians – can use Suth Guild Heall.

Festival 2008

New site plans: based around ‘hubs'. We will have a central cooking/social fire area, then satellite camping areas (household/period/college) Central area needs large undercover area – autotents or marquee?

No info yet on tent hire or firewood.

Lillian will be campsite contact with event stewards.

People should VOLUNTEER.

Upcoming Events

Demos:

Gumeracha May 3 rd /4 th

MMFAT Nov 15 th /16 th

[Query as to effectiveness of demos. Will monitor enquiries, but experience of Abbey event in Brisbane is that having it repeated raises people's awareness, and they may end up becoming involved not after their first, but after their second or third attendance, so it's worthwhile to keep at it. ]

December STTS

Need to do paperwork to make this a Canteen event.

Bring presents- Dutch auction.

Ice skating (Tiff to organize)

Soirees – expressions of interest but not firm plans
