Newcomers'

 AS XXXVIII

After several years of this event not happening, Newcomers' made a triumphant return as a joint effort of the College of St Monica (Monash University, Clayton - part of the Shire of Krae Glas) and the College of St Bartholomew (Melbourne University, Parkville - part of the Barony of Stormhold). The event was held at All Saints Hall, Hawthorn, which proved an idyllic setting for the day's activities that included a buffet style feast, collegia, rapier and heavy tourneys, games, dancing and demonstrations of the various pursuits of the members of the groups involved. Both Colleges, the Shires of Krae Glas and Arrowsreach, the Barony of Stormhold and the incipient Shires of Iseldir and Cairn Faill all had representatives there, making for a marvellous display of co-operation. Particular thanks must go to the members of the College of St Monica for organising the event and the food.

Below are some of the pictures of the event I captured, including some close ups of the ecclesiastical vestments of All Saints Church, which are all hand embroidered and are up to 200 years old. Also some photos of the furniture in the church are shown, as these pieces are constructed and designed in a period fashion, too. Thank you to Assistant Priest Peter for permission to photograph and view these pieces first hand.
