The tradition continues! Stickjox IV featured a completely new format this year, being run as a camping event for the first time. The site, a small property near Seville in the picturesque Yarra River Valley, close to the Shires of Arrowsreach and Krae Glas and the Barony of Stormhold and located in one of the finest wine growing districts in all of Lochac, was utterly marvellous.
What didn't change was the relaxed, friendly atmosphere Stickjox is renowned for, the various combat related collegia run by a number of presenters (some first time presenters), and, of course, the fighting, which this year included a boffer tourney. There was a veritable plethora of great food all weekend to sustain the fighters and supporters, and several people garnered their first experience of the SCA, and more were first time SCA campers.
I felt that the change in format and the new site worked superbly, and look forward to more of the same at Stickjox 5, only bigger and better!
This was the first official event my new Fuji Finepix S5000 got a run at (it had warmed up on a couple of smaller, not so official events), so I put it through its paces, and many of the results can be seen below.
