Summer Twilight Tourney Series III

February Wrap-up

Ode to Summer Twilight Tournies
by Master Gwynfor Lwyd

Oh, week of labours most foul and tiresome That on weekend's eve I should crave Surcease for work most noisesome Companie, friends and battle brave

Warm night o' Summer, in tranquil light
Pleasant repast, gentlest songs,
Crafty arts senses delight,
For these the heart still longs

And upon the field mighty array,
Swords aclashing, shields rent sore
Armour bright on those at play
Must it end, there must be more?

And were you there to share the marvellous evening? To hear the songs and tales. To marvel at the great works of our cooks, our artisans and our entertainers? To witness the clash of arms as the day dwimmers away and then under the gentle glow of the lamp? Did you dance under a summer sky joyously while musicians plied their instruments under oaken trees?
Did you cheer each combatant as they took the field and fought with honour and valour for the honour of their consorts and the sheer joy of the tourney? Did you raise your voice in acclaimation for the victors in the divers competitions and leave with cunning plans for your entry next month?

If you were misfortunate enough to miss out, then you, poor soul, must resign yourself to merely being regaled with the tales of the wonderful eve of those who were there, and must resolve that, come the third friday in April you shall not miss the glorious fun that is the one most important tradition of the Shire of Krae Glas's Summer Twilight Tourney Series (version 3.5 coming to an Oak Grove at St Monica's on the 18th of April).
