Kingdom Hospitaller / Chatelaine

Applications are again invited for the office of Kingdom Hospitaller.

This is an important role, in fact it is the cornerstone of any group, as the Hospitaller/Chatelaine is often the first contact most people have with the Society.

The Kingdom Hospitaller/Chatelaine reports to the Kingdom Seneschal and the Society Chatelaine and is responsible for newcomer relations throughout the Kingdom.  This includes providing resources and support for the promotion of the SCA, recruiting of newcomers, assisting newcomers once they have joined the SCA, and media relations; both directly and through the local group officers.

Applicants are required to be members of the SCA and should be over 18.  Useful attributes include good communication skills, experience in promotional and recruitment roles and the ability to support and encourage the efforts of others.

Provost of Scribes

Greetings,

My term of Provost of the College of Scribes is nearly up.  As such it is time for me to ask for expressionsof interest for this position.

The position of Provost is one that requires both administrative and people skills.  The person undetaking this job needs to be a good administrator rather than a calligraphy and illumination Laurel.

The role of the Provost of Scribes is to encourage the Scribal arts across Lochac, organise the assignment and completion of award scrolls and liaise with local Scribal Wardens to facilitate the completition of these scrolls.

To be the Provost of Scribes, you are required to be accessible via e-mail and post, have a current membership and have some calligraphy and illumination skills.

The Provost of Scribes reports quarterly to the Royalty and to the Kingdom Seneschal.  They are also responsible for the publication of the scribes newsletter 'Ductus" and moderation of and maintenance of the Scribes List.

Kingdom Exchequer

Applications are called for the position of Lochac Kingdom Exchequer.  This would be from October this year, but the ideal applicant would be able to work with me in parallel for a few months before-hand to learn the ropes.

Formal accounting experience is not required, but would be an assess.

The role encompasses the following areas:

• Oversight of all group accounts
  
  
• Collation and checking of quarterly group reports
  
  
• Looking after the Kingdom accounts held in both Australia and New Zealand
  
  
• Sitting on the Counsel fo the Purse for approving Kingdom expenditure
  
  
• Troubleshooting any issues that come up
  
  
• Appointing group reeves
  
  
• Consulting about and updating Kingdom finanial policies
  
  
• Regular and accurate reporting

It requires someone who has a good head for figures, is methodical and keeps in regular contact via email.  Running of the accounts and making payments has become much easier in the past year, now that we have electronic banking set up in both countries.

This office requires a little bit of everything - people, administration and design skills.  During my term this office has evolved from a Deputy to the Chronicler to a Lesser Office and is still undergoing some transitions.
