What kind do you not have volunteers for yet? I can't do Friday, as we have to drive down that day. Time to organise some classes. So, I need: * Someone to run the Good, Friday ball. * Classes! Yes we had some last year but more would be nice this year. We had a good mix last year but we were somewhat compressed in the times we had the hall available. This year there is no Crown Tourney and I believe that the fencers and heavy fighters have been pouted at enough to make them go away when the hall is in use for classes (I just need to get Berenger to qualify his "list field open for pickups any time" comment). So we can have more classes this year! I believe we need at least one beginners' class that will be (supervised) child friendly (unaccompanied children get given a double espresso and a free puppy), and based on the last couple of years' experience we probably want to schedule 2 hours for that and rotate teachers. * Two or possibly 3 intermediate level classes. Some mid level ECD for 4 or 6 (what's being done in your group? don't make me teach all of the Rowany stuff). Something 15th C Italian. Perhaps a beginner's 16th C Italian. Or can someone perhaps do a class with 2-3 Gresleys? * One 16th C class just prior to the Caroso Ball. * The Caroso Ball, which I plan to run as always. 4pm Sunday is locked in. * I believe Cairistiona is planning to run a Children's ball. I'm not sure of the timing. Please get back to me and let me know if you're planning on running a class, what it will be on, how long you need for it (1 hour blocks) and anything else you think you need (e.g. musicians). If anyone else wants to run a class on any other subject please do so. We have had a couple of calls from people wishing to submit bids for the Bal d'Argent to the Silver Rondel secretary. I have run the 20th annual (yes that many) Caroso Ball at Rowany Festival, as well as a reasonably well attended dance program. We also had some new guild members join and some get on the list to be joined when they can do the right number of dances. Interest in dance isn't waning in Lochac, but we have a bit of a gap in the organisation at the moment. So I'm going to give you all a razz-up. Firstly, we need someone to evaluate bids for Bal d'Argent this year and for that I nominate myself. Edine, Leoflaeda and anyone else who wants to send bids in, do so to me, preferably by May Crown: del at sca.org.au Secondly, I will not be at Rowany Festival next year, nor do I believe I will be at Rowany Festival for some number of years afterwards as I will be travelling for long distances far from these shores. I therefore need someone else to take over the running of the Caroso Ball if it is to continue. It's a simple enough matter once you get into the swing of it -- otherwise I would not have run 20 of them and not killed everyone yet! Someone else needs to take over organising the dance program at festival. I have done so for a few years either running it or helping others run it and now is the time for someone else to step into the breach. I believe that Annabelle is planning on being the person to organise the A&S program again next year and so it will be a matter of finding teachers, liaising with her about the classes, and organising a timetable for the Great Hall that does not make things class (such as having a dance class at the same time as fighters are using it for a tourney). Someone else needs to step into the currently vacant position of Guild Secretary. The things to be done are look after the guild web site, and decide on the location of the next Bal d'Argent. That should be voted on by the guild at this year's Bal. So if you think you can help out in running, teaching, or organising dance activities around the Kingdom, now is the time to think about stepping up to the mark.
