QC

Queen's Cypher

Award of Arms

An Award of Arms is the lowest level of armigerous award given within the SCA. It confers the title of Lord or Lady, and the right to bear arms upon each recipient.

AA

A straight Award of Arms is given society-wide to recognise that the recipient has contributed to the Society.

CaidAA

This category is for Awards of Arms (AA) handed out in the Kingdom of Caid to citizens of the Crescent Isles. When the Kingdom of Lochac was formed, responsibility for the scrolls associated with these awards was taken on by the scribes of the new Kingdom.

OST

The Order of the Silver Tear was given for substantial and unobtrusive service to the Principality of Lochac. It conferred an Award of Arms on the recipient.

OLM

The Order of the Leaf of Merit is given for excellence in service to the Kingdom of the West. It confers an Award on Arms on the recipient.

ORL

The Order of the Rose Leaf is given for expertise in the Arts and Science in the Kingdom of the West. It confers an Award on Arms on the recipient.

OAA

The Order of the Argent Arrow is given for skill in Target Archery in the Kingdom of Caid. It confers an Award on Arms on the recipient if they do not have one already.

ODo

The Order of the Dolphin of Caid is given for excellence in service to the Kingdom of Caid. It confers an Award on Arms on the recipient if they do not have one already.

GL

The Order of the Star and Lily (formerly Order of the Golden Lily) is given for achievement in the Arts and Sciences within the Kingdom of Lochac. It confers an Award of Arms on the recipient if they do not have one already.

GL&OGT

This person was awarded both the Order of the Star and Lily and the Order of the Golden Tear.

OGT

The Order of the Golden Tear is given for substantial and unobtrusive service to the Kingdom of Lochac. It confers an Award of Arms on the recipient if they do not have one already.

ONo

The Order of the Nock is given for achievement in missile combat in the Kingdom of Lochac. It confers an Award of Arms on the recipient if they do not have one already.

CB

A Court Barony is awarded to those that enrich the Kingdom of Lochac in unique ways. It is often awarded to landed Barons and Baronesses at the conclusion of their tenure, and confers an Award of Arms if the recipient does not already have one.

Grant of Arms

A Grant of Arms is the second-highest level of award that may be given in the SCA.

Recipients of a Grant of Arms may be referred to in Lochac as The Honourable Lord/Lady (often abbreviated as THL).

Grant of Arms on Cunnan

GA

A Grant of Arms is given to to acknowledge the services of Great Officers of State, or to recognise significant effort in any other field that benefits the kingdom.

RCA

Royal Company of Archers, once given in the Kingdom of the West to those who demonstrated achievement in the field of Archery. This award conferred a Grant of Arms on the recipient.

RCY

Royal Company of Yeomen, once given in the Kingdom of the West to those who demonstrated achievement on the warfield with Missile Weapons. This award conferred a Grant of Arms on the recipient.

OCt

Order of the Cockatrice, given in the Kingdom of Lochac to those who demonstrate outstanding skill in the Arts and Sciences. This award confers a Grant of Arms on the recipient.

ORW

Order of the Red Wyvern, given in the Kingdom of Lochac to those who demonstrate outstanding skill in the Martial Arts, including Armoured Combat, Archery, Rapier, the Equestrian Arts, Siege Warfare, or Leadership on the warfield. This award confers a Grant of Arms on the recipient.

OSP

Order of the Silver Pegasus, given in the Kingdom of Lochac to those who demonstrate outstanding service to the Kingdom. This award confers a Grant of Arms on the recipient.

LCA

Member of the Lochac Company of Archers, given in the Kingdom of Lochac to those who demonstrate high achievement and service in the field of Archery. This award confers a Grant of Arms on the recipient.

OWL

Member of the Order of the White Scarf of Lochac, given in the Kingdom of Lochac to those who demonstrate high achievement and service in the field of Rapier Combat. This award confers a Grant of Arms on the recipient.

Patent of Arms

A Patent of Arms (arms granted by Letters Patent) is the highest level of award in the SCA, and recipients are collectively referred to as Peers.

In the Kingdom of Lochac, Patents of Arms are conferred on companions of the three Society Orders of Peerage (Order of the Chivalry, Order of the Laurel and Order of the Pelican), and on Royal Peers who have previously reigned over the Kingdom.

Patent of Arms on Cunnan

VIS

A Viscounty in the SCA is a royal peerage that is awarded to someone who has ruled a Principality at least once.

A Viscount or Viscountess may be referred to with the honorific Your Excellency.

County

A County in the SCA is a royal peerage that is awarded to someone who has ruled a Kingdom at least once.

A Count or Countess (several alternate forms of these titles are possible) may be referred to with the honorific Your Excellency.

Duchy

A Duchy in the SCA is awarded to someone who has ruled a Kingdom at least twice.

A Duke or Duchess may be referred to as Your Grace.

KSCA

Knight of the SCA / Companion of the Order of the Chivalry, granted for prowess, courtesy and chivalry on the field of battle, and conferring a Patent of Arms on the recipient.

A Knight is traditionally addressed by the title Sir, and may wear a white belt and a chain of fealty.

OL

Order of the Laurel, given for excellence in the Arts and Sciences, and conferring a Patent of Arms on the recipient.

A companion of the order of the Laurel may be titled Master or Mistress, and referred to with the honorific Your Excellency.

OP

Order of the Pelican, given for excellence in Service, and conferring a Patent of Arms on the recipient.

A companion of the Order of the Pelican may be titled Master or Mistress, and referred to with the honorific Your Excellency.
