15/01/10 Award of Arms Scroll Competition

A competition will be held among the scribes of Lochac to complete pre-printed or original Award of Arms Scrolls, the winner to be proclaimed Scribe of Lochac (if an induividual) or Scriptorium of Lochac (if a group) for the year.   The competition starts at Rowany Festival this year and ends at Canterbury Fair in the coming year, with prizes presented at Festival next year. Places will be judged on the number of points gained during the competition.

Completing the calligraphy for a pre-printed Award of Arms counts as one point, and the standard illumination likewise counts as one point.  Adding embellishments gains extra points, as does doing the calligraphy, illumination, or both for an original AoA scroll.

Once all outstanding AoA's have been completed scribes will be able to request to continue calligraphing and illuminating GA blanks. As these are a more complicated blank they will be worth two points each for calligraphy and illumination. However they will not be available until all outstanding AoA's have been completed.

To enter, contact the Provost to request one of more scroll assignments,  indicating whether you wish to do the calligraphy, illumination, or both, and whether it is an original scroll or a pre-print.  You will then received further instructions.
