The ball attracted 45 people, and the competitions were fiercely contested though in a friendly manner. The winner of the Rondelle Dance competition (the Silver Serif) was Lady Sybille la Chatte. The winner of the Group competition (the Group Serif) was the team comprised of members from the colleges of St Malachy (three), St Ursula, St Augustine and the Barony of Rowany. The winner of the Non Rondelle Dance competition was Lord Caleb Adolphus. The winner of the Garb competition was Lady Ciara de Beaumaris. A picture of this winning dress is available at http://www-personal.usyd.edu.au/~ktay0998/pics/meyer.jpg. Lady Ciara maintains a page on Dutch Women's clothing at http://www-personal.usyd.edu.au/~ktay0998/. The use of a web page in ball advertising was deemed a success. The most successful advertising link was that from the Lochac Calendar with around 30% of the notified redirections coming from this page. The use of a tracker, in which Extreme tracking http://extreme-dm.com/tracking/ was used very successfully in garnering usage of the web page. The home page of the Silver Rondels is now http://www.sca.org.au/rondel/. The suggested recreation for Contrapasso Nuovo can be found in Dels Dance Book 6th edition http://www.sca.org.au/del/ddb/. There are some images on this page currently unavailable elsewhere which are being referenced so this page has not been removed. This page is also currently linked from the Silver Rondels web page. Please note that apart from this small wrapup section, the web page remains mainly unchanged since the ball so some links on the main part of the page are now out of date. Where known updated links have been put into this wrap up. |

The location for the ball is Dapto Ribbonwood Centre and this is located at 93 - 109 Princes Hwy Dapto 2530 (15 minutes south of Wollongong by car) NSW Australia. There are two car parks but the car park and entrance into it via Moombara St is recommended and this is next to McDonalds. The site is located 10 minutes walk (no longer) from Dapto Train Station. The Ball itself is to run from 6.00 pm, with dancing intended to start no later than 6.15 pm and finish at 11.30 pm. A buffet style supper will be supplied. Please note this is a different venue than that which the Flame Tree Ball was held at in 2000. This hall has a floor ideally suited for dance with it being a sprung wooden floor. Candles are strictly not allowed in the hall, so we ask that people do not bring any. |
