Barony of Stormhold

Here is the baronial succession process. We remind nominees that the successful candidate(s) will need to be financial members by their investiture. We do accept single candidates but remind you that being a territorial Baron or Baroness alone is a huge amount of work.

1. Nominations go directly to the Stormhold Seneschal, who sends them through to us. Only the Crown will be able to determine eligibility. The currently advertised exclusions of the Vicar (Miriam), the Seneschal (Lorenzo) and all the nominees from last process (Hugh, Therese, Hanbal, Ute and Sui) will stand. We will only be able to allow one week for nominations (they close Saturday Dec 10). We will send the Vicar and Seneschal the approved nominee list for publication on Stormlist on Monday Dec 12 (it'll be late - we only get home from NZ around 8pmish). Nominees should provide their SCA and mundane names, contact details and a short blurb on what they think they can bring to the position, and a brief outline of their plans for the group. This blurb should be circulated around the group by the Seneschal after confirmation of their eligibility.

2. We will provide a polling sheet to the Stormhold Seneschal on Tuesday Dec 13 - it will have spaces for preferences, comments and 'I do/don't support this candidate". Preferences may be equal (eg you can put two candidates first).

3. Polling forms are collected (send to Stormhold Seneschal) and sent UNOPENED to us - due to the proximity of Xmas we can only allow two weeks for polling - so polling closes Dec 23. If mailing your poll sheets in - please double envelope them with 'Baronial Poll' written on the inside envelope so Lorenzo only opens the outer envelope. He will mail the polling forms to us after closing of the poll.

4. We then discuss the results with our successors (we also plan to include Stephen and Mathilde in this conversation), we may return to the Vicar for advice if needed. We will advise the candidates and then the group of our decision as soon as we can.

5. Corney and I will formally announce our decision at Twelfth Night, and Aedward and Yolande will determine the investiture date with the successful couple . The vicarage will be extended until the investiture date.

We encourage the populace to be honest in their comments. Please not the do/do not support option on the form is to determine if a candidate or couple are substantively opposed by the group. This is a way of indicating if you could live with them as B&B or would want to run away and hide.
