  • Lots of book shops & coffee shops to make the trip pleasurable. Not to mention the art supplies stores that sell canvas (great for bodice construction) just a smidge cheaper than Eckersleys

    In fact the whole 2nd level of the QVB - visit Penultimate and see a pen made of amber (don't ask for the price)

    Home Yardage Seconds Outlet, York St (self explanatory - upstairs for furnishings, downstairs for bits'n'pieces - fairly limited range of linen unless you like every shade of pale blue)

  • Tapestry Craft - all things embroidery, tapestry, woolly)

  • Tin Soldier (keeps the wargamers tagging along happy whilst you nick off elsewhere)

  • House of Jewellery

    Excellent period jewellery books & tools, come in and say hi to me some time)

    An excellent range of early music here where they let you listen before you buy (very dangerous, can never walk out of her empty handed - Finn)
