Aylwen

Playing since: 1995

Costuming Focus? Elizabethan costuming as required by our historical dance group. I'm also interested in Italian and Spanish from the same era and I'm currently making Elizabethan items for the band members of Earthly Delights and dancers from the Bordonian Heritage Dancers - both men, women and children. On the side I also love 18th century, Regency, Empire, and Victorian styles. I love linen and stays - and my interest is at last rubbing off on our other dancers! One important aspect of my costuming is that it must be able to be danced in. The only downside is that fabric and trimmings can be so expensive!

SCA & Other Interests: Dance, music and cooking! I am also interested in gardening, garden design, herbs and preserving. I also play the hurdy gurdy.

Elizabeth Beaumont

Playing since: September/October 2000

Costuming Focus? Mainly Tudor English about 1530 (though I tend to stretch that date a bit). I've also made a couple of Venetian c.1490-1510 outfits for hot events (The Italians knew how to deal with heat & the English didn't)

Other SCA Interests: I'm trying to improve my embroidery and calligraphy skills but moving very slowly. I'm also just starting dance classes.

Mistress Francesca Cellini, OL

Playing since: mid 1984, in Brisbane when Riverhaven was still an incipient Shire.

Costuming Focus? I research predominantly 16th century Italian, focusing generally on 1500 - 1560, but more specifically on the 1520-1540 period.

Other SCA Interests: My interests have expanded into:
* cooking - predominantly looking at the entire event experience rather than just the food (so if anyone knows a decent translation program which I can use for my copies of Scappi and Messibugo, let me know);
* silversmithing - focussing more on the jewellery aspects instead of the objet d'art side of the process; * glassware - particularly styles of the later periods; and
*ceramics (predominantly majolica, but tin-glazed throw in some Hispano-moresque and Islamic lustreware for good measure) - I'm doing my own pieces at the moment and am experimenting with a number of different design styles.

Web Page? Not at this stage.

Contact: to be advised

Lady Morag Freyser

Playing since: Ynys Fawr was brand new

Costuming Focus? Anglo-Scandinavian - that is mid to late tenth century vikings in England in particular York is my main focus, but my husband also wants a set of court garb to match his Wars of the Roses harness, and soon our daughter will want something different too, and then our son will want to look like daddy....I also am moving into the 'complete outfit' mode and getting into accessories of all sorts

Other SCA Interests: include anything textile, including learning to weave, spin and embroider (how else do I get the interesting twills for a proper apron dress?)

Web Page? I don't have one, too much time doing other things...

Contact: I read the Lochac costumer's list, so will probably answer a call there

Mistress Sybille la Chatte, OL

Playing since: Some time in 1992 vaguely

Costuming Focus? Well sort of. Costuming is really a vehicle for what I really like doing....dancing.  You can’t dance without clothes (well you can, but lets not go into that here), and movement is affected and limited by what we wear. My costuming focus has recently been Elizabethan 1560-1600, Italian 1560-1600 (with a particular focus on 1580-1600) and French 1560 – 1600.  Played with 1580s-1600 Spanish and will continue to! My main interests in costume focus on structure, underpinnings, layers, movement in clothing and its limitations particularly for dance.

Other SCA Interests: Yes. Dancing, hair, dancing, dancing, renaissance music, renaissance spectacle, ruffs, dancing, eating, teaching dancing, cooking, Jewish food, dancing...you get the idea.

Web Page? Not yet, working on it. Slowly. Still haven’t quite worked out where to get space.
